Today, we do some visualization. Envision yourself on a green, course and weather are up to your preference. You pitched the ball to get onto the green, and while it wasn't the best pitch in the world, you did manage to avoid the bunker between where you and the green. Now, it's time to handle that putt. It's a far putt, definitely not one that you're expecting yourself to make, and the break is slightly awkward. You make your first stroke, and, well...you definitely could've done better. The ball is now a two-putt distance on the other side of the hole. It's not the end of the world, but you did cost yourself a stroke. It's a common mistake, but there is a fix.
