As mentioned in a prior writeup of a Single Plane Quick Tip, the stroke of a putter is unique compared to the motions of the clubs in your bag. On paper, it is just a back and forwards motion, but there is a lot more to it than that. The body isn't built to move in straight lines, it's built to rotate and pivot. While rotation is important in your full swing and in other parts of your short game, this makes putting a bit different. Improper rotation and poor ball position can lead to the ball having the wrong spin, or even bouncing, both of which are not ideal for consistent putting. Naturally, we have a drill for that, so join us as Tim Graves, PGA, walks you through his favorite way of making sure the putter makes contact on the upstroke.
