Two questions for today. One- What is the most dynamic part of the body during the golf swing? Two- What is one of the first parts of the body to lose mobility with age and lack of proper maintenance? If you took a golf swing at face value, the arms might seem like they're doing the most work, but that's not correct. Your arms shouldn't be doing too much work, they simply help the lower body and core to transfer speed into the club. In rotational sports, your legs are your powerhouse, and golf is no different. With that in mind, the answer to both questions is your hips. Not only do you generate power through both them and your glutes, but you also use them to keep your rotation on axis during the swing. They are very important, but they are also high maintenance. It's never too late to improve, so join Tim Graves, PGA, for this episode of Quick Tips, where we've got a tip about the hips.
