We started the week off with the Hip Tip, today I bring to you the Chip Tip. For some, chipping is a daunting part of the game, given that it is very easy to badly execute one and add a stroke to the hole. It doesn't have to be so tough, you just need to remember four words: minimize fly, maximize roll. As far as short game overall goes, it would be good to remember the P.C.P. rule as well. Putt when you can, chip when you can't putt, pitch when you have to. See a trend working down that ladder? Pitching is a lot of fly, not a lot of roll. Putting is all roll, no fly. Chipping is a grey area in the middle, but as the tip will tell you, you want to be having as much roll as possible in that ratio. Less fly, less room for error, that's the biggest takeaway I left the editing stage of this Quick Tip with. Join Tim Graves, PGA, as he breaks down a tip for your chips.
